She’s an actress, author and all-around fan favorite. What Sarah Jessica Parker touches people will line up to buy due to her flawless reputation, dedication to detail and eye for fashion and fragrance trends.
From clothing lines to critically-acclaimed cable TV series, SJP is a celebrity powerhouse. Much like Jennifer Lopez with her multi-platform business empire, SJP has a solid following for her self-designed shoes, clothes and perfumes.
In 2012, she was ranked #7 on Forbes’ List of Highest-Paid Actresses, much of which didn’t come from her screen work. Her known income of $15 million that year was profit from her perfume and many fashion-related endorsement deals.
Her latest, Stash SJP, goes old school in a solid glass bottle that bespeaks of speakeasies and billiard rooms. The fragrance, which Sarah Jessica Parker said she’s spent more than a decade designing, is very different from her previous scents, SJP NYC and Lovely, which have each made a splash on the scene when they debuted beginning in 2005.
On Instagram last year, Parker wrote that it was “one of the hardest secrets I’ve ever been asked to keep. A scent we’ve spent YEARS perfecting. Passed among a select few like a verboten substance.”
The top notes of Stash SJP have a hint of cognac, grapefruit zest, black pepper and sage. As the scent settles, cedar wood atlas, patchouli and ginger lily blend with a pistachio, wood and musky scent.
With her whip-thin frame and flowing locks, the 52-year-old actress is recognizable for her sense of fashion, both on and off the screen.
The 5’3” icon left her beloved Carrie from “Sex and the City” behind and moved on to the more mature, somewhat dark and critically-acclaimed HBO series, “Divorce.” The 30-minute series with Thomas Haden Church has a few fun finds for fans of “Sex and the City,” such as the couple having a tense discussion under a canopy for “Cary’s Pharmacy” and other SATC Easter eggs hidden throughout the show.
If her latest labor of love scent is too intense for you, Parker’s amber, lavender, and orchid-based Lovely has a gentle layer of scent and her sweetly citrus bouquet SJP NYC is a fun fragrance with a light touch. Her mid-range Covet is bright and spicy, a precursor to her latest endeavor Stash SJP with its heavier handed woody scent tracks.
Married to fellow actor Matthew Broderick, SJP has three children, James Wilkie, 14, and twins Marion Loretta and Tabitha, 7. She has said she tends to people please, which is why she pours so much of herself into her line of scents and designs.
“As a woman, I have an inherent need to be all things to all people, to make certain everybody’s taken care of,” Parker has said. “I know I can’t sustain that level all the time, so I’m finding the proper balance and it’s made me infinitely happier.”
