Latest Beachwear Trends For Summer 2014

beach wearYou might not feel like it, but sunshine really is around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about beaches, bikinis and that important tan.

Swimsuits already in your wardrobe spent plenty of time in the sun, which relaxes the fabrics and sometimes causes it to break from sun bleaching – it’s never too early to update your summer look.

The progression in styling by designers have meant you’ll see more of high fashion beachwear that not only flatters superbodies, but looks great on the mere mortals among us. Here are this season’s top beachwear trends to ensure you look chic both off and on the sand.

Fringe and sides

Fringe is quickly setting the trend this year. If you’re looking for two-piece beachwear – a bikini or just something to mix and match – look for tops that feature a handful of fringe. Fringe would sometimes go across the bottom, and sometimes across the top and set into a triangle that parallels your neckline.

Sides are also setting the rage: a number of different suits include bottoms, or cross-over pieces that attach to the front middle. Sides can an ideal choice this season because covering the middle while exposing the sides makes you appear long and thin.

Retro

The newest swimwear bringing retro look will sizzle in 2014. And the good news is the 70’s inspired trend can flatter any body type. Belts, retro motifs, bustier cropped tops and bikini bottoms are killing it on the beach front.

For retro suits, you can try a high-waisted floral themed suit for an uber feminine look, or experiment with a colorblock bikini that draws attention to your appearance in a subtle way. A fruity pattern with a playful take on the high-waisted shape won’t be a bad idea too.

Bustier

Spaghetti strap and strapless bustier tops add a bit of lift, while offering great support, making it a perfect choice if you’re fuller up top. Some latest styles include lace-up detail and corset backs, while others feature removable push-up padding.

But the most popular these days are bustiers resembling crop tops: they are cut a bit longer in the torso part so they can be easily worn with your favorite shorts and skirts. Even tank swimsuits and one-pieces are taking on that look, featuring bra top designs in styles that still keep you covered.

Neons

Bright and bold neon colors are making a comeback and are sure to turn heads at the pool and beach. Retro-shares of electric pink, neon green and citrus yellow are huge in summer and will certainly complement your sunkissed tan.

If you’re truly bold, match and mix contrasting separates to create a unique look, or go with a subtle pop of neon in colorblock looks and chevron prints. If you’re looking to make a statement this season, neons would be right up your alley.

Classic nautical

Nautical looks both two- and one-pieces featuring the sailor-chic stripes in shades of white and navy blue are popping up everywhere. Some designers are even reinventing the nautical look to lend some subtle flair of their own.

Bright cherry shades and gold-plated anchor embellishments are also being thrown in the mix. And it’s also safe to think knotted rope and polka-dotted bows with nautical-inspired prints.
