Don’t we all wish we could look 10 years younger? Well, apart from me – that would make me look 12. However, lots of ladies have a makeup routine that actually makes them look years older than they are; I might not want to look 12, but I certainly don’t want to look any older than I am. I’ll stay in my 20’s forever thank you very much. Enough about me: here’s a makeup routine that will help you to look 10 years younger:
Step 1 – Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturise
The first step of any makeup routine before even touching your makeup stash should be cleansing, toning, and moisturising. This will help to prepare your skin for what you’re about to put on it – a bit like a blank canvas. You’ll get better results if you prepare. If you’re especially conscious of your lines and wrinkles, you could always use the best anti ageing serum on the market to moisturise with.
Step 2 – Apply a Primer
A primer will smooth out lots of your imperfections and wrinkles. It also helps your makeup to stay on longer. You should notice a difference straight away!
Step 3 – Brush on Your Foundation Thinly and Evenly
A foundation brush is the only tool you should be using to apply your foundation. Too much foundation can make your skin look cakey, so apply thinly. You can always build up your base with another layer if you need to, but it’s better to start with less. You don’t want it gathering in lines and wrinkles!
Step 4 – Avoid Putting Too Much Powder on Your Face
Many people like to put powder on after their foundation. The truth is, powder can sit in your wrinkles and make you look way older. If you must use powder, use it sparingly. This goes for powder blush and bronzer too.
Step 5 – Use an Eyeshadow Primer
Eyeshadow is great for brightening up the eye area, but make sure you use a primer first. This will give you a smoother finish! Research the colours that complement your skin and eye colour too.
Step 6 – Go For Subtle Eye Makeup Over Dark and Dramatic
Dark, dramatic eye makeup might look great in your teens and perhaps even through your thirties, but any older and it’s difficult to get away with. Go for brown mascara and eyeliner to create definition without looking like a scary panda.
Step 7 – Choose a Lipstick to Make Your Teeth Look Whiter
The wrong lipstick colour can make our teeth look yellow and wash our whole face out. Lipstick can also give us whiter looking teeth, and play up our other features if you do it properly. Look online to see how you can create this effect. Don’t forget to use a subtle lip liner to keep your lipstick in place – darker lip liner can look a little bit like you’re trying too hard. Think Jodie Marsh back in the noughties. Not a good look…
