How to Recreate the Red Carpet Look for Under £50

From the Baftas to the Oscars, everybody loves a bit of red carpet action at award ceremonies. Whole TV programmes, magazine pages and newspaper articles are dedicated to the fashion seen at these events. And we can’t get enough of it! There’s just something so glam about donning designer dresses and walking down the red carpet. Unfortunately, if you’re strapped for cash and aren’t a movie star then it’s unlikely to be designer dresses or red carpets for you. That doesn’t mean you can’t recreate the look though. We’ve put together the perfect red carpet look for under £50 – you’re welcome!

The Hair

Invest in some large velcro rollers for just a few pounds and a can of mega hold hairspray for this Oscar Winning performance. Working with clean, and dry hair use the velcro rollers in large sections from the end of your hair to the scalp. Make sure they roll in smoothly and use the clips to keep them in place. Now cover your entire head with that mega hold hairspray and carry on with your make-up and outfit. When you’re ready to leave the house, remove the rollers, gently brush through using a paddle brush, and give yourself another spritz of hairspray. Gorgeous!

The Make Up

We’re kind of assuming you already have the basics you need for your make-up here, such as your usual foundation, some blusher and some lengthening mascara. Other things you need to complete this look are an eyebrow pencil, highlighter pen and red lipstick. Keep with a natural looking face by applying a thin coat of foundation that is blended in well. Use your blusher and new highlighter pen along your cheekbones to give yourself that Moss look. Next the eyebrow pencil to define (no scouse brows, please), a sweep of mascara and finishing off with that daring red lippy. You can always use a tiny bit of hairspray over your face to lock in your look, just don’t do this on a regular basis as it isn’t great for the skin. Remember to keep your eyes and mouth closed before spraying on your face though!

The Outfit

If you want to find celebrity dresses without spending celebrity prices then the internet is the best place to do that. We’ve found a whole ton of replica dresses from the red carpet for less than £30 online. Everyone will want something different to turn heads, but make sure you opt for something that is definitely ‘wow factor’. Look up red carpet pictures of Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Nicole Scherzinger for some stylish inspiration. If you’re going for a patterned dress then accessorize with a plain clutch bag and neutral heels. If your dress is a block colour then you can be more adventurous when it comes to the accessories. Heels are a must though; you can’t walk the red carpet in flats.

Not only is this red carpet look under £50, but we bet it doesn’t take you long to recreate either. Remember to start with the hair and let it curl whilst you’re getting on with everything else. Now off to the red carpet (local bar) we go!
