Why I’m Spending Time Looking After My Legs This Summer

My legs are not my favorite part of my body, but I know they are one of the most important. They get me from A to B, and most of my workouts would be impossible without them! I’m also a big fan of skirts and shorts, so I want them to look good. It would be a bit of a waste wearing a gorgeous outfit if the legs at the bottom were unsightly.

For me, a good pair of pins is essential. I want the fuzz-free, toned and tanned. I was quite horrified to read some of the terrible effects on the body from gaining weight. One of the biggest problem areas is for the legs because of the extra load they have to bear. Things like varicose veins and spider veins not only look unsightly, but they can contribute to discomfort in the legs. You can also get Plantar Fasciitis, which is a very painful heel condition.

If you are finding that you are starting to suffer from some of these conditions, it’s important to check in with your doctor. Any weight gain can cause them, including pregnancy. There are clinics like Varice that specialize in removing varicose veins. There are also some exercises you can continue to do to help stop them getting worse.

If you are about to start any new exercise program, you should ask your doctor’s advice first if you have medical conditions. Generally speaking, gentle movements of the legs are a good idea. Stretches, rotations, lifts, and kicks can all help keep your circulation healthy in the legs. There are some great Yoga stretches to help with problems like Plantar Fasciitis too. Many leg problems can be relieved, but varicose veins may need to be removed surgically if you find them too unsightly.

Deep vein thrombosis is a potentially deadly condition. It usually occurs in the legs but left unchecked can cause damage to your heart or brain. If your job is quite sedentary, or you travel long haul, you need to keep your legs moving as much as possible. Simple, seated stretches can go a long way to reducing your risk of deep vein thrombosis.

Restless leg syndrome is a nuisance more than anything else for most people. It can harm your physical, mental and emotional health because it often interrupts your sleep. Regular exercise and stretches to your legs can help reduce the occurrence of symptoms. You can also elevate your legs with a pillow in bed to help too.

Muscle spasms in the legs, particularly at night, can be incredibly painful. They can occur for many reasons, but a diet lacking in minerals is often the cause. A good, nutritious diet is essential for general good health, and will keep your legs healthy too. Weight gain can be a contributing factor if your diet is poor too.

I work hard to look good and keep the weight off. Now I know just some of the problems that can arise, I’m pretty determined to keep my weight within healthy limits. Try to strive for a healthy lifestyle to keep your legs in great shape this summer.
