The party season is exciting when your calendar is crammed with regular events requesting the pleasure of your attendance, but it also creates a bit of pressure to avoid a fashion faux-pas and stay on trend.
Here is a look at what is in this party season and what should be avoided if you want to be seen as a dedicated follower of fashion.
Gold is the party colour
The festive season is seeing gold as the party colour this time around and it is certainly understandable when you consider the Christmas pedigree that gold enjoys with many festive traditions associated with the colour.
Red is seen as too literal this year and there have been plenty of gold dresses appearing in winter catwalk collections. Particularly popular are rich burnished gold’s with deep brocade textures, with a pair of thin black ankle boots and a generous eyeliner to complete the look.
If you take a walk around some of London’s fashion trendsetting venues like Camden Market, you should be able to find that killer dress in just the right shade of gold.
So last year
The worry for plenty of us is that you want to try and avoid the perils of party dressing, which involves turning up with a look that suggests you haven’t been out since the party season last year.
If you want to avoid getting it wrong this season, then you probably want to avoid leather trousers, which are no longer considered rock’n’roll. A year is a long time in fashion and leather, annoyingly for some, is not the look this time around.
Apparently fake fur has managed to survive the leather trouser cull, so you can wear that with a degree of confidence as part of your wardrobe ensemble.
Keep hold of the jumpsuit
There were quite a few fashionistas who thought that jumpsuits would make a fleeting appearance on the catwalk and on our fashion radar, before fading away as quickly as a wedge trainer.
Jumpsuits have definitely managed to survive more than a few attempts to kill of this classic look over the years and you can stretch back some 40 years to find the likes of Jerry Hall stepping out with confidence in their rather sassy jumpsuits.
The reason for their continued survival and popularity is that wearing a jumpsuit seems to be about attitude and when you wear one, your mood almost instantly changes to party animal.Beyoncé has certainly done her bit to keep up the popularity of the jumpsuit and if you want to feel like you are ready to party, you could do worse than take this enduringly popular item out of your wardrobe.
Don’t forget the bag
Crazy clutches and silly bags are not a new concept but if you want a bag that is right on trend and screams to everyone that you are ready to have fun, the Custard Cream Clutch is a prime example of how you can raise a smile and set the tone.
Enjoy the party season even more by staying on trend and get yourself noticed for all the right reasons.
