There are so many misconceptions about skincare. It’s alright for her you’re probably thinking – she’s been trained. She’s had years of experience. Of course she’s going to know more about it than you! While that may be so, we thought we’d help the therapists out a little bit. Here are the things she wishes you knew:
What You Do Out of the Salon Matters
The things you do outside of the salon matter to your skin. You can spend as much as you like on specialist beauty treatments, and while that can help you to an extent, it isn’t the be all and end all. You need to focus on your skin outside of the salon, and you’ll get the best results from your treatments inside of the salon too. For instance, you need to make sure you protect your skin from damage with products containing SPF. The guys at Platinum Skin Care say you should also create a sustainable skincare routine that you can stick to; cleansing, toning, and moisturising twice a day. Treat your skin to a mask every so often too. Make sure you don’t mindlessly pick and pull at your skin – you’ll cause damage and scarring. Treat your skin with care. Do everything you can to ensure your skin stays in good condition and every time you visit the salon you’ll get better results.
There are Things Even She Can’t Fix
Please be aware; there are things even your beauty therapist can’t fix. She may be able to improve the overall appearance of your skin, but she may not be able to reverse sun damage, wrinkles, and so on. If you have a severely aged face, for example, you may be better off visiting a surgeon or botox professional to get the results you seek. Make sure you discuss your expectations in length with her so that there are no crossed wires and disappointments. She will only be able to get you results to a certain extent. Skincare treatments are coming on leaps and bounds, but you need to be realistic. For drastic results, you may need to resort to surgery or another expensive treatment.
Results Aren’t Always Instant
The results you want won’t always be instant. After certain treatments, you can sometimes see an improvement in your skin right away. Your skin will then continue to improve over the course of the next few days. However, some treatments may require you to go back for multiple sessions. You might need to have a course of treatments depending on what you want your result to be like. For the best result, a course of treatments or a regular appointment is best. This is the best way to get permanent, sustainable results.
Now you know these things about skincare, you’ll get the best results when you choose to visit a salon. Your beauty therapist will be thrilled, as will you when you see just how amazing your skin looks. Look at your skin as an investment, and you’ll look amazing in the long run!
