Everybody wants a dazzling smile. You can usually put this down to celebrities showing off their bright white, straight smiles in the magazines and newspapers everyday. Simon Cowell had his done, Cheryl Cole had hers done, Tom Cruise had his done…they’ve all had something done to their teeth. People see our teeth as we talk to them, and we look much better in general when we smile, so it’s important we’re proud of our teeth! Here are 7 steps you can take to a show stopping smile:
1. Go to The Dentist
Have you been avoiding the dentist? We all do it at one point or another, but the dentist is very important. You need to make sure you haven’t got any fillings or problems that need tending to before you start doing anything else to your teeth. You might even need a tooth alignment, like Braces by Brigance offer.
2. Learn How to Brush Properly
Many people don’t brush their teeth properly, so they aren’t getting the whitening results they crave. Many people use a manual toothbrush, and press down way too hard on the teeth and gums. You aren’t necessarily giving your teeth a good brush by brushing them hard – you could be damaging them. Use an electric toothbrush gently all over your teeth, including the backs of your teeth, your gums, and your tongue. Follow by flossing to get rid of any debris, and then use a mouthwash like Listerine to finish.
3. Whiten at Home
You can whiten your teeth at home if you feel you need an extra boost to make your smile shine. You can do this with a mixture of your own – baking soda can be good for this. You can also buy kits at varying prices that can whiten the look of your teeth with prolonged use. Some people say that if you put the gel on your teeth before having a sunbed session, the results can be accelerated.
4. Get a Tan
Sometimes, getting a tan is all you need to make your teeth look bright white and shiny. You can do this by using the sunbeds responsibly, or by applying some false tan with a mit. Start from your legs and work your way up carefully, making sure you don’t miss any spots.
5. Wear Shades to Compliment Your Teeth
Certain lipstick shades can compliment your teeth more than others, depending on the undertones of that lipstick. Ruby Woo by Mac is said to be a shade that suits all skin tones and makes teeth look whiter.
6. Avoid Staining Foods and Drink
If you drink a lot of tea, coffee, cola, red wine, and eat foods like berries and sweets, you could be staining your teeth with what you’re eating and drinking. Keep these foods down to a minimum, and always use a straw where you can, and swish with water after eating or drinking something that could stain.
7. Don’t Smoke
I shouldn’t have to remind you just how bad smoking is for you. Not only does it make your teeth look horrible, it makes you stink and age earlier too. Quit now!
