First things first: you may think that people don’t notice your hands – and your nails – but they do. If you meet someone for the first time, they’ll probably look at your eyes, face, and smile. But the next thing they’ll notice is your clothes (and shoes). If you speak to them for a longer while, though, they are bound to notice your hands and your nails. That’s why it’s important to keep your hands and nails in good condition. But while it’s easy to keep your hands clean and soft, it’s not as easy to keep your nails well-maintained, particularly if you’re a nail biter! Here, then, are some simple and easy ways to give your nails a makeover.
Don’t do it!
As mentioned, if you’re a nail biter, don’t do it. Avoid biting your nails at all costs. Some people even have the habit of picking on their nails or peeling the skin around their nails, and they’re not even aware of it. One trick is to put something on your nails so that you’ll know when you’re doing these things, like lotion or moisturizer, or even perfume.
A good way to clean your nails
Set some time aside so you can really clean your nails and pay attention to them. You don’t have to spend a day in the salon – you can do it yourself from home. Clean your nails by using a nail brush (you can buy it in any beauty shop). A nail brush is great at removing dead skin, dirt, and bacteria from beneath your nails. For better results, make a homemade nail scrub using a few household ingredients. Just mix two tablespoons of sugar with two tablespoons olive oil until it becomes a paste, and rub it onto your hands and nails, especially the cuticle area.
Moisturize
If you don’t use moisturizer on your face, you’ll quickly feel the effects – your skin will feel dry and flaky, and you won’t have a nice, youthful glow. The same is true for your hands. Make it a habit to apply moisturizer to your hands at least once a day, and more if it’s the winter season. By moisturizing your hands and nails, you’re avoiding hangnails (very painful) and keeping your hands supple and soft. If you don’t have moisturizer, a bit of olive or coconut oil will do – just massage it onto your nails’ cuticle bed to make the nails moister, allowing your nails to grow a lot faster as well.
The finishing touch
Soon enough, you’ll notice that your nails and your hands look better – and feel better, too. For the final, finishing touch, make your nails look extra special with beautiful press on nails which are easy to apply and can make your nails and hands look great on any occasion.
