How To Put On a Wig

Women have been wearing wigs for approximately 3,000 years. They are a fashionable accessory that will complement the best outfits. However, putting them on is not easy if you don’t do it the right way and this guide hopes to teach women how to put on a wig with wig tape.

Step 1: Get your wig ready before applying your best wig tape. Unscrew the hairpiece from its base and shake it gently to get rid of loose hairs around your scalp. Brush your real hair well to remove any dust or dirt on it. Put on some styling cream or gel if you wish to fashion wavy tresses, but make sure that you only use a small amount.

Step 2: Put on the wig base first before you apply the hairpiece onto your head. This will keep it in place and ensure that no strands of real hair are stuck between the two pieces. Slide the wig base down to your forehead so that it is slightly loose around your face and then pull it back gently until you feel it pressing against the back of your head. You could also opt to put on a solid wig cap, but wig tape is easier to use and takes less time.

Step 3: Take out the wig tape from its packaging carefully and then separate one piece from the rest. The pieces should have adhesive at each end of them. Peel off any excess adhesive from the ends and then slowly stick them together. You could also use a spatula if you find it easier to smoothen out the wrinkles on the tape.

Step 4: Position your hairpiece at the back of your head and hold it there with one hand while applying wig tape over it with your other hand. Start from underneath and smooth it out upwards. You should end up with a thin layer of tape that covers the whole back of your head, from your forehead to the nape of your neck.

Step 5: Cut off any excess wig tape and remove the part covering the hairpiece on top of your real hair. It is also important to remove any strands of hair between the tape on your face and the base below it.

Step 6: Now is the time to style your hair and tie it into a ponytail before you put on the front piece of your wig with wig tape. Braid two strands together or apply some styling gel if you want to produce wavy tresses, but keep the hair at the front of your head loose.

Step 7: Bring the two strands up to your forehead and then take one strand from underneath them. Secure it with another wig tape that is facing upwards, from beneath the top layer of wig tape on your forehead and tilting outwards towards your ears. Make sure that you smooth it out downwards towards your temple so that it blends in with the rest of your wig tape.

Step 8: Keep doing this until you reach the back of your head. You will have to switch over to a new piece of tape whenever you reach an existing piece or when there is no longer any adhesive left on your current one. Don’t worry if you end up with a few tiny gaps between the tape.

That’s how to put on a wig with wig tape! The back of your hairpiece should be secure and you will look just like any other lady wearing a hairstyle that is complete with wavy tresses. It is also important that you do not use too much wig tape. You should only need a thin layer of tape to keep your hairpiece firmly in place.
