Get Yourself Back After Giving Birth with a Mommy Makeover

With celebrities everywhere giving birth then parading their post-birth bodies seemingly unblemished and intact, there is immense pressure on women to get back in shape quickly after having a baby. This has led lots of Moms to look at a new collection of surgeries together, called a Mommy Makeover.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

This is a term for a collection of surgeries that help correct the issues a Mom might be experiencing after childbirth. Since everyone is different, each Mommy Makeover is different, too. Usually the problem areas after giving birth are the breasts and the tummy, although sometimes a Mommy Makeover will include labia surgery or liposuction on the hips and thighs.

Breasts

When you give birth and breast feed your baby you are undoubtedly doing the best thing for yourself and your little one. However, because your breasts will be filling with milk and then feeding again and again, the skin of your breasts will be repeatedly stretched. This means they can become saggy and loose. Also,  your nipples can change color, shape and texture; the position of them will change too. A breast lift will help your breasts return to their former glory. Some women can get away with breast augmentation if their nipples are still in the correct place, however, if your nipples point south then you will probably want to have a breast lift.

Tummy

Tummies do get stretched and pulled around when you have a baby. It’s not just the skin though, it’s the inside of your abdomen that suffers. The two sides of your abs part during pregnancy to allow your body to expand, and sometimes these two halves don’t come together properly afterwards. A surgeon can re-attach the two parts at the same time as doing a tummy tuck. Tummy tucks are done to tighten up loose skin and are sometimes accompanied by some liposuction to remove stubborn deposits of fat in the abdominal area.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are difficult to get rid of and no, creams and oils don’t work. However, if you go to your cosmetic surgeon while your skin is still pinkish, then there are many ways to diminish them if not make them entirely disappear. Ask your surgeon about these laser treatments, as they can be very effective, providing your stretch marks are still getting a good supply of blood, which is what the pinkish/purple demonstrates.

Labia

Your labia is made up of two sets of flaps of skin, called labia majora and labia minora. Sometimes after childbirth, the labia minora, the skin closest to the vagina, extends past the labia majora. This can cause pain and infection due to rubbing. Surgery can reduce the labia back to fit neatly beneath the labia majora where it was originally. This will prevent any soreness.

If you are in need of a Mommy Makeover then you contact your plastic surgeon for more information, and they will be able to explain the procedures more fully. Mommy makeovers are not cheap, they start at around $10,000 upwards, depending on how many surgeries you need. However, Moms need to feel good about themselves, and one way to make yourself feel brand new once again is a Mommy makeover.
